Australia’s Natural Gas supplies and reserves are linked to major markets by more than 20 000 kilometres of high-pressure pipelines.

The eastern Australian states are criss-crossed with an array of oil and gas pipelines. This network goes directly through our permits thereby minimizing the cost of bringing gas to market.

In addition to the pipelines shown on the following map a series of additional pipelines are under construction in order to facilitate the transport of gas to the LNG export facilities at Gladstone. It is anticipated that the construction of pipelines will increase over the next few years to meet the growing demand.

Since 1 July 2008 seven pipeline licences have been granted and eight applications for pipeline licences have been lodged with the department.
